One of the largest exchanges in the US is adding support for a crypto asset that will play a key role in the Shiba Inu ecosystem.
Crypto.com has just added Bone ShibaSwap (BONE) to its list of altcoin listings.
BONE will be used to pay gas fees on Shibarium, the highly anticipated Layer 2 project designed to make Shiba Inu more efficient, similar to Polygon (MATIC) on Ethereum (ETH).
It is also the native token of ShibaSwap, a decentralized finance (DeFi) and decentralized exchange (DEX) for the Shiba Inu sphere.

Crypto.com’s BONE listing comes as developers prepare for an imminent beta release of Shibarium, which will allow developers to build scalable applications and release custom tokens that are directly tied to the Shiba Inu community.
The release dates for the official and beta versions of Shibarium have been the subject of debate, and the project’s pseudonymous lead developer Shytoshi Kusama has said he will not give firm dates to avoid disappointment over possible delays.
BONE has shot up 90% since the beginning of the year. It is also up 28% in the last 30 days, although it is down 10% in the last week. The altcoin is trading at $1.68 at press time, down 4.2% over the past 24 hours.
