The C and X chains of the Ethereum (ETH) Avalanche (AVAX) challenger went down briefly when the network upgraded to a new software version.
Chain X, the blockchain exchange chain used to transfer funds, slowed down and processed only a few transactions, rendering it virtually unusable.
Block production was also halted on the C chain, the contract chain used for smart contracts.
Crypto exchanges including South Korea-based UpBit have temporarily halted AVAX transactions due to the outage.
“We are temporarily suspending AVAX deposit and withdrawal service due to AvaX wallet system verification. Once the inspection is complete, we will resume deposits and withdrawals, and will update the resumption of service through this notice.”
Kevin Sekniqi, co-founder of AVAX says a bug with version 1.9.12 caused the problems.
“The network has been unstable for a little over an hour. It was a bug with v1.9.12.”
But the issue has since been fixed with the release of another update. Sekniqi also urges Avalanche validators to update to version 1.9.14 as soon as possible.
“The fix has just been released, the network is starting to stabilize again.
Everything’s fine! I’ve been at this pushing bug fix to undo the 1.9.12 issue. v.1.9.14 has just been released, the network just needs to be updated now to fully stabilize.”
